US funds program to combat Human Trafficking
MOD June 10th, 2008US embassy , Colombo in a press release today (October 18) said that US funded training program to be launched for Sri Lankan law enforcement authorities and government officials on combating human trafficking. The program, which is to be conducted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) “will help law enforcement officials identify instances of trafficking in persons and increase the rate of prosecution of those responsible for the practice in Sri Lanka”, the press release said.
