Sri Lanka: Youth shot dead in Jaffna (TamilNet)

A youth was shot dead by unknown assailants Wednesday morning 4:00 a.m. near Kasturiaar Road inside the Municipal limits of Jaffna town, sources in Jaffna said. Sri Lanka Army (SLA) cordoned off a large area surrounding the site of the incident and are conducting search operations.

A youth was shot dead by gunmen alleged to be belonging to Sri Lanka Army (SLA) backed paramilitaries in an area behind the Jaffna main post office, between KKS Road and Muneeswaram Road, at 12:15 p.m. Friday, sources in Jaffna said. Soon after the killing the SLA troopers in the area had fired into the air, traders near the crime site said.
