Sri Lanka Navy has decided to grant permission for a written request made by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second son Yoshitha Rajapaksa to be attached to his father’s security contingent.

 The new government and SLN was under pressure by various parties to act against Yoshitha Rajapaksa who is a Lieutenant of the Sri Lanka Navy for being absent without informing.

 Rajapaksa submitted a written request to the Ministry of Defence and the Navy Commander seeking permission to join former President’s security detail.

However, an internal investigation is currently underway concerning his recruitment to the Navy and the scholarships that had been granted during the Rajapaksa regime, following a complaint lodged by the JVP.
