May 04, Colombo: At least eleven people have died following heavy rains and flash floods in Sri Lanka’s capital and several other areas of the country. Meanwhile, a huge crater caused by heavy rains has closed the Galle Road at Wellawatte. In Colombo, three people were killed after drowning and falling into unprotected drains or manholes, police said. At least eight others have been killed in the Galle, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts.
