General Secretary of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Udaya Gammanpila lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Allegations a short while ago saying that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe accepted a bribe from President Maithripala Sirisena while he was the Presidential candidate.
He said that President Maithripala Sirisena while announcing his candidacy clearly stated that if he wins, he will appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.
Gammanpila speaking to media said that if a person promises an office, grant an office or accept an office in support of the election, it is an offense according to the Presidential Election Act. "The first and the second citizen of the country have committed a bribery offense. And the bribe was the second highest office in the country" he further stated.Read the Full Article
