A haul of cigarettes valued at Rs. 130 Million has been seized by Central Investigations Division (CID) at Sri Lanka Customs after examining a container which arrived in Sri Lanka from Dubai on 18 December.


The Customs spokesperson Leslie Gamini said that the due payment of duty and the other levies of the 4.4 Million cigarettes in 22,000 cartons sum up to Rs. 247 Millions.


The haul of cigarettes was declared as washing powder cosigned to a false name of a BOI company at Giriulla on the import. The investigations are conducted under the supervision of Director of Customs and other officials.
